W H A T I S O ' C A S E Y ' S ?
 O'Casey's is a bar entirely dedicated to writing and writers; dedicated to stories and storytellers; dedicated to poetry and passion. No other venue in Second Life is quite like it.
O'Casey's is unique as it does not deal with music per se, but rather seeks to become a place where we can promote a range of other activities in SL. A place to listen to prose, poetry, lectures, discussions... it is a place where you can here a macabre short story one night, a DJ share their secret musical passion the next; where comedy can be mixed with tragedy within a few days of each other.
 The range of events we have done so far has been dazzling. From live readings of works of authors like Terry Pratchett or J. K. Rowling to people singing in Elvish; from performances of T. S. Eliot's The Waste Land to recitals of Shakespeare; from the lilting verse of Yates to tributes to pirates and their ilk; from the words of the best-selling authors in the world to original works by Second Life residents.
We are dedicated to the idea that the best events are those which make us think - we like history and we like debate. Occasionally we also like a raging argument (we are an Irish bar after all); but always in the spirit of mature appreciation that there are some talented and smart people out there.

 My Favourite Author, My Favourite Chapter
Our most famous event is My Favourite Author, My Favourite Chapter. Each month O'Casey's picks a different author or literary theme. During that month fans of the author or genre in question can pick one chapter and have it performed. Or even better - perform it themselves.

 Beautiful Stories for Evil Children
If you like to hear a story told from beginning to end however, then every Tuesday is given over to Beautiful Stories for Evil Children - the event dedicated to short stories. Cautionary tales, fantasy, fairy tales, folktales, fables ancient and modern... bedtime stories for adults, O'Casey's style!

 By Shining Water
We love poetry. Be it blank verse or be it rhymes; be it iambic pentameter or be it some post-modernist rant, poetry is exciting, vibrant and instant. By Shining Water... is the name we give to performances of and by some of Second Life's best poets; and also by normal people reading others' great poetry.

 My Secret Passion
We also hold musical events such as My Secret Passion. This is where we gather together some of the best DJs in Second Life and ask them to share with us the artist, band or genre they love the most, encouraging them to indulge themselves as fan boys/girls for a couple of hours.

 A Moment in Time
Then there is A Moment in Time - the event wherein we ask folks to talk about history. Part lecture, part entertainment, part questions and answers, part argument, A Moment in Time is when O'Casey's indulges in history and all that goes with it.
